Determining the cost of an investigation, any investigation, missing persons, liability or any other, before commencement is impossible but once we have a clear understanding of your situation we can estimate how much an investigation could possibly cost. During the free consultation we will better estimate the approximate cost. Some determining factors of cost will be the nature of the investigation, the duration of the investigation, services requested (surveillance, research, background checks, etc) as well as the difficulty level of the investigation.

Each situation and each case is different and until we get started we can only estimate the duration of an investigation.

Laws governing Private Investigators are different in every state. In Michigan, there are no laws that require Private Investigators to identify themselves. However, any professional Private Detective should identify themselves and which company they work for if requested. Confidential information such as whom the client may be or the case the investigator is working on likely will not be disclosed.

​Every state is different but generally, it is not illegal to hire a private investigator nor does it open you up to civil liability. If the investigator is unethical and does something illegal the investigator can be civilly liable and could be charged criminally.
